Welcome to the Lab, by Stillpoint Spaces London.

Come explore psychology, in depth, outside the consulting room through our brand new open source psychology co-working hub, our events, and our growing community.

At the Stillpoint Spaces Lab we are creating the conditions for work and cultural engagement that goes beyond productivity.

We do this through:

  • Providing a bright and welcoming working environment for our members.
  • The provision of lectures, seminars, and workshops on contemporary subjects that matter to you.
  • Creating a community of those seeking to understand more about our world and about ourselves through psychology and psychotherapeutic approaches.
  • Enabling people to deepen their work, whatever that work may be, by engaging the whole person.
  • Reaching out to and engaging with other communities and organisations that share our vision.
  • Developing our international community of members and spaces.

Our 'Lab' is an ongoing experiment where we endeavour to take the insights from psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, and psychology, out of the consulting room and apply them to everyday life. Through our physical spaces in London, Berlin, Zurich, and online we hope to expand the scope of psychology to all aspects of life by stimulating in-depth thoughtful work, introspection, and reflection.

Stillpoint Spaces is an international organisation founded by counsellors and psychotherapists who, in addition to providing high quality individual work, also want to create a more public space for engaging with contemporary issues through a psychological lens.

Who can become a member?

Anyone with a deep interest in psychology and its applications to individuals, groups, and society are all welcome to apply for membership. While many of us will come from the "talking therapies" we hope to attract people from a variety of disciplines who share our vision and hope to apply ideas from insight oriented-psychologies to their work, whatever that might be.

We are open to:

  • Psychologically minded people from all disciplines looking for a place to think, work, learn, and play.
  • People who want to work in and contribute to a psychologically intentional environment that incorporates elements of mindfulness, deep work, and personal individuation into the space.
  • Counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and other talking therapists who are looking to join with others outside their consulting rooms and in the world.
  • Academics and students with an interest in applying depth psychology to their work – all disciplines welcome (sociology, cultural studies, film studies, etc.).
  • Artists, writers, technologists, futurologists, think-tankers, app designers, and anyone else who wants to apply psychological thinking to their discipline.
  • Trainees in psychology, psychotherapy, counselling, or psychoanalytic candidates.

How does it work?

The Stillpoint Spaces Lab operates much like a traditional co-working environment, but with a difference. We are building a community of people who want to think psychologically about their work and deepen the role that psychological thinking plays in understanding everyday life. Our Lab was created with psychology in mind, offering a bright and convivial space to do work, relax with a book or magazine in our Study, or peruse our growing collection of psychology books in our on-site library. There is top notch quality bean to cup fair trade coffee available all day long, or tea if you fancy. Cold drinks are available to purchase as are a curated selection of psychology and philosophy oriented books to help you better make sense of the world.

The Lab is open weekdays from 8 to 8 when you are welcome to come along, find a space, and knuckle down. One or two evenings a week we will shut The Lab a bit earlier (usually around 6) to put on an evening event - a lecture, film screening, seminar, or workshop, which is available to members for free or at a discount. We are closed on weekends and bank holiday (all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy), except when we are putting on weekend events to increase your wisdom.

Membership to The Lab is by application, though we also offer day passes for the occasional visitor. Our Library is hireable throughout the week as a meeting room, with special discounts for members. The entire Lab is also available for hire when not being used for our own events.

Accessibility: It is very much central to our vision that we make in depth psychological thinking through our activities as accessible as possible. Please do let us know in advance of your participating if we need to be aware of any issues affecting your accessibility and we will do the best we can to accommodate you. It is important to know that the building we currently occupy is accessible only by stairwells (one to the consultation rooms and another to the lab). We have done all that we can, given these limitations, to make access as wide as possible. However, we also understand that this still excludes some. If you are interested in joining us in any way, but cannot access our venue, please do let us know and we will endeavour to make the best alternative arrangements.

Suggest An Event

Our events at The Lab range from film screenings to mindfulness sessions, four-hour workshops, to weekend conferences and evening lectures. We encourage as much participation and engagement as possible from our Stillpoint members, and the vibrancy of our events programme is only possible because of the variety of approaches that they bring. If you have an idea for a seminar, a screening, a session or a lecture, (or something we’ve not seen yet) pitch it to us by selecting the 'Suggest An Event' from our form drop-down menu and complete the enquiry form. Our team will respond as soon as they can. Thank you.
